One of the most respected General Superintendent in Africa, who was the 4th General Superintendent to be retired in Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Charles Osueke has bowed to Glory in death.
How He Died
Rev. Dr Charles Osueke died uncommonly, to many his death was a clear indication that he lived a fulfilled life. The 79 years old preacher died while praying on his knees which is very rare among preachers.
Rev. Dr. Charles was the head of Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria for 22 years before his retirement in November 2010, died in the early hours of Thursday according to a source close to the church.
Throne reporters confirmed that the 79-year old preacher died hale and hearty.
The late cleric had his night devotion as usual on Wednesday night before going to bed but could not make it in the morning as he passed on while praying.
Confirming the news of his demise, a former Executive Council member of the church, Rev. P. K Emeaba, when contacted, told our Correspondent that he just arrived at the Enugu residence of the former General Superintendent to console the family.
He said, the late preacher (Osueke) was reportedly sick a few days ago and taken to the hospital but discharged two days later, confirmed sound and hearty. Further speaking; he said, he left Okpoto where the church leaders had gathered for a summit, immediately to commiserate with the family.
The late Rev. Dr. Charles Osueke was born May 31, 1942 in Umuomumu, Mbieri, Mbaitolu area of Imo State, Eastern part of Nigeria.
Achievements-Rev. Dr. Charles
The 79 years old late preacher did tremendously. Some of his major achievements as the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria includes; the launch of Decade of Harvest which resulted in great missionary work and revival across Nigeria, Evangel University, Evangel Camp Okpoto, Peniel annual convention of the church, among others.
He is survived by his wife, Rev. Mrs Blessing Osueke, three children and many grandchildren.
